Hello world (or anyone who still reads this blog)! I have severely neglected to blog here, and I just don't feel that The Style Edge represents me or my new life. I recently moved from Los Angeles to Omaha, Nebraska and I want to share that adventure with you. I have a great (fashionable) job, and live in a really cool city (I swear...you will see). I want to share all of these exciting things with you...just not here!

I am trying to figure out what I will be calling my new blog, but as soon as it's up, I'll post the link on here, so you will be easily re-directed.

My inspiration is the movie Julia and Julia, and rather than making me inspired to create an outfit on polyvore or photoshop, I find myself wanting to do something- like blog daily. My question to you is this: WHAT should I be blogging about daily. Sure, I could just do random posts, but I really like the idea of having a constant theme or goal. I am brainstorming what I should blog about daily- some sort of project. Let me know if you have an idea!

I am uploading a new video tonight, so I promise that I am not a huge failure when it comes to youtube videos. Irregular with posting? Sure, but not a total failure!

I love the layers and deep colors that fall brings, and can not wait to transition into autumn appropriate clothing. A dress that speaks to my more demure and buttoned up side is the Aslot Dress by Jason Wu. The color and shape is just gorgeous, as is the leather belt that it comes with. I also have a feeling that the pleats make the skirt dance a bit.

I would definitely buy it...if only the price tag were not more than my rent.

Please excuse my recent absence. I have been so busy and tired lately, that blogging has taken a back seat. I thought I would just gush about my newest desire: the architectural reptile satchel from Deena & Ozzy at Urban. I can't tell if it is going to be too large for me, but by the looks of things, it seems like the perfect structured bag for fall. It can be worn on the shoulder or as a cross body bag (and lord knows I love a cross body bag)! Only time will tell if this makes it into my closet, but it is a huge contender due to the amazing price. Enjoy the lusting!

All Nighter

I am currently back home, visiting my parents. As usual, when I am home my mom loves taking advantage of having a shopping buddy, and last night we hit up the local makeup counters. She treated me to some much needed products, including Urban Decay's All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Spray. I have not found a primer that I absolutely love, and the girl that was assisting us suggested I use a setting spray instead. The spray claims to keep your makeup in place for 16 hours, and keep it from melting or dehydrating in all types of bad weather! What could be better? All Nighter spray is also vegan, cruelty free, and dermatologist tested.

I am on a little health kick right now, and wanted to share a few fitness themed favorites with you. I love these pants by Hard Tail. My boyfriend isn't a fan of the maternity style rollover, but they are incredibly comfy and great for working out. Next is a great little sweater perfect for lounging in or wearing as a warm up. I love feathers. Whether it be a single one intertwined in a headband, or a feather pattern on a blouse, I can't get enough. Summer Excitement!

On of my best and oldest friends is coming to visit tomorrow, and I can not contain my excitement! She is having a whirlwind summer of traveling the U.S. (you can read about it on her summer 2010 blog). As soon as she arrives in LA tomorrow, we will be having an amazing shopping day! Catching Rays

The other day my boyfriend uttered the words, "No offense, but you look better tan". I didn't take offense, because at the time I was super tan. All year round I feel the need to have some level of color. I am naturally fairly pale, but I look like I need color because I have larger features (people think I am Persian or something but alas, I am just a white girl). I know that tanning beds cause cancer and premature aging, so I stick mostly to faux tanning lotions.

My self tanning quest began years ago when I used the neutrogena tanning lotion. That stuff makes me look super orange but I didn't realize it (I looked a little like Snookie from Jersey Shore). A couple of years later I invested a bit more and bought 'Faux Tan' lotion by Bare Essentials. This stuff was dark as you put it on, and smelled like almonds. It was perfect. Guess what? They discontinued it! *Insert sad face here*

Eventually I came across Xen Tan (which I am convinced has the same formulation as the aforementioned Faux Tan). It makes you super dark and brown (not orange). The key is that it is green based in it's undertone. It creates a natural tan look and smells like almonds or marzipan as well.

So where can you get your hands on Xen Tan? I buy mine from drugstore.com. I think it's a few bucks cheaper than buying from Nordstrom (correct me if I am wrong). Plus, sometimes they throw in free shipping.

Now go forth and be bronzed!

Untimely Resolution

I work for Anthropologie, and every time I see this dress, I find it incredibly hard to resist purchasing it. By the time you read this, I may have already caved in and bought it! The canvas-like material on the Pueblo dress is perfect for summer, and could easily be your go to dress all season long. I love how this could be dressed up for a party, or worn with casual accessories for an every day look. I always enjoy a hint of rainbow, so the color combo in this dress is right up my alley. I can't say enough about it! The super flattering fit makes this ideal for all shapes and sizes.

Bonus: although it's a strapless dress, it comes with detachable straps so you could add them on for a different look.

In my childhood, I had a favorite watch. It was a bubble watch with Ariel from The Little Mermaid on it. I loved looking at my watch- pretending to be a big girl (even if I couldn't tell time yet). When I spotted these Marc by Marc Jacobs watches, I instantly had a flashback. The candy colored hues of these watches remind me of the girly watches of yesteryear. I actually bought it at J Crew (they had bottles at the cash wrap) and I was so excited to try it out! I had been dying to find a go-to nail varnish for the spring, and the stars aligned today- this purple is absolutely perfect!

Whenever I go to Disneyland, I go on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride numerous times. I always search the pile of gold as I pass by it, for treasures I hadn't seen the last time. I recently came across a necklace that is in the spirit of the Pirates ride- and I am in love. There is something about spring and summer that makes me shift from more polished pieces, to something a tad more bohemian. Right now I want to be on the beach in Bora Bora wearing all white constantly, and sipping on pina coladas. Although I am not going on a tropical vacation, I can still fulfill my dream of wearing relaxed whites. The Things & Joys dress from Anthropologie is my current love. I will definitely be pairing this with some embellished sandals (maybe with some turquoise thrown in), and a thick brown belt. The dress can be a bit sheer at the bottom, so wearing something like this half slip by Calvin Klein would be a great solution. If you are like me, and adore this dress so much you wish you could have it in every color- get excited! No, you can't get it in every color, but it also comes in a dusty blue- which would look amazing for a summer lunch with friends. Let me know- what is your favorite go-to dress right now?

Amazing! Now you can rock the romper trend, relax in a maxi dress, or amp up an outfit with the layered chains necklace, all while being able to afford a nice dinner. How is that for cheap and chic?

We are all well aware that neutrals are a huge trend for this spring, and with so much spring clothes in stores, it's hard to resist dressing for 80 degree weather. Because I live in LA, I have the option of dressing for spring in February, but for those of you who are in colder climates, you can easily layer spring items with winter and fall favorites to stay warm. Number 1 is aMetallic popover sweater by Vince. It's lightweight fabric is semi sheer, and will carry you into the warmer months. Number 2 on my transitional spring favorite list is the Relaxing Tee by Madigan (from Anthropologie). This slouchy Tee is perfect for a lazy day, worn with raggedy jeans and a hobo bag, or can be polished with a blazer and a fitted skirt. Numero tres is the gorgeous Dresden Moto Jacket from Mike & Chris. The snake embossing gives this jacket an edge, and more spring ready than your all black or brown jackets. Jeggings are everywhere this spring, and the pair in number 4 are perfect for warmer months. The lighter grey color will brighten up your winter wardrobe now, and will fit perfectly with your neutrals and colors for spring. The cutoff shorts featured as number 5 are by Free People. The dark wash pair can be worn with tights now, and show off your legs as it gets hotter out. I love the studded details on the side! Lastly are the only non-clothing item on this list. The Daryl Zip Wedge Sandals by Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent are a great shade of grey, than would look great with nubby tights or socks now, as well as with floaty dresses in the coming months. Despite the fact that it is mid January, I found myself pausing in front of spring clothing windows. Although I am someone who loves the layering options of fall, I find myself, uncharacteristically enthusiastic for spring. One trend that I am loving is safari inspired. The Gap has a great collection out for spring, and I particularly liked the Belted Utility Jacket. It's a lightweight jacket, perfect for chilly spring evenings. Another thing I love (year round) is an armful of bangles. A stylish and budget friendly solution is the Melanie bracelet set from forever 21. When spring and summer finally come my way, I don't always feel like being exposed in a tank top. A sheer button up is ideal if you want more coverage while still keeping cool. Try this breezy button down from urban outfitters. Lastly is the amazing Via Spiga belt from Nordstrom. One of my guilty pleasures is watching QVC or the Home Shopping Network. I can't help but indulge in the beauty demonstrations and friendly hosts. Although I tend to hide my sad little addiction, there was one QVC line that I was proud to tune in for: Rachel Zoe. Albeit a tad overpriced for something I can't try on before I buy, Zoe's line is filled with beautiful and opulent jewels, faux fur and fabulosity. I fell in love when I saw this cocktail ring, and knew that it had to be a part of my collection. After a month of contemplating, I finally gave in and purchased it. When I was little, I would close my closet doors before I went to bed, to make sure that the monsters wouldn't come out of it at night. Now, I would be happy to have monsters in my closet...in the form of Wild Things inspired outfits from Opening Ceremony. These pieces, created for the release of Where The Wild Things Are, are truly amazing pieces. Whether it be a full jumpsuit inspired by the character Max, or skirts, dresses, and jackets influenced by the wild things in the film, each piece is sure to be a fabulous addition to your fall wardrobe. Hey guys! So yesterday me and the boyfriend went to Disneyland, and had an amazing time. Disneyland is all decorated for Halloween now, and it's so fun to see the pumpkin Mickey decorations throughout the park. I have always been the biggest wimp I know, and have never been one to go on thrill rides. I enjoy a leisurely stroll through main street, some shopping, and fireworks. Not the case yesterday. Shockingly, I faced my fears and went on every ride I have ever been intimidated by, and conquered all of them. I could not be prouder of myself! On to the fashion portion of this post: I found some unlikely fashion inspiration in Tomorrowland. Maybe it's my partiality for ninja style, but I could not help but stare at the female Jedi costumes at the Jedi training camp. The kimono style top was cinched at the waste, and had amazing drapey sleeves...who knew Star Wars wear could be so flattering? In addition to the fantastic top (and totally sweet light saber), our female Jedi had a very easy and chic updo. It kept the hair out of her face, which is imperative when you are facing the forces of evil.

I really had an amazing time yesterday, and can not wait to go back again.

With the economical climate the way it is, saving money is on all of our minds. Although bargains are great, why spend hundreds on throw away items that won't last when you could invest in pieces that will stand the test of time? Looking at clothes as an investment is important, because you truly get what you pay for. A classic item that costs more, will last for years to come, whereas that forever 21 top you just bought probably won't. That said, there is nothing wrong with buying cheaper items- I do it all the time- but they usually end up atbuffalo exchange or crossroads trading company within 3 years. As I am getting older, I realize that my wardrobe should grow with me, and my favorite items seem to be classics. I have chosen 4 classic items that will eternally look good. Most importantly, you will never look back and say "what was I thinking?" in one of these!

The trench: This chic classic will never go out of style.

The pencil skirt: A pencil skirt can be paired with a multitude of pieces to look corporate or party-worthy.

Hello all! This is another apology for not posting lately. I am still sick (which I have been for almost 2 months). I am finally getting some answers from my doctors, but it's a slow recovery process. The diagnoses at the moment is inflammation of the stomach and colon (lovely, I know) which has caused me lots of pain, and 2 trips to the ER. No fun at all! Despite being home sick for so long, it has been hard to sit up and keep the computer on my lap without hurting, so that has cut into my blogging. Hopefully I will be better soon, and back to sharing fabulousness with you.

Things to look forward to after I am better? Disneyland, spa trip, and eating food again!

Pade Vavra is a Los Angeles jewelry designer, that creates amazing and unique pieces that have been seen on the likes of Rachel Zoe, Joy Bryan, Mila Kunis, and Gwyneth Paltrow. In addition to her extensive clientele, Pade's work has been featured in Lucky, W, Japanese Vogue, and WWD. One of my friends works for Pade, therefore I always get to admire the gorgeous jewels when I see her. I own 2 pairs of earrings by Pade, and the quality and detail that goes into each piece is amazing. This is a double shank ring my friend was wearing (on loan) from the Pade Vavra fine jewelry collection. It has a one-of-a-kind quartz with pave diamonds encrusting the top of the 14kt peach gold bands. It is truly amazing. The PADE by Pade Vavra collection is much more affordable, and both can be found here. I just had to gush over the stunning rock that I had the pleasure of ooh-ing and aah-in over tonight.

It's been a of couple weeks since I graduated, and I have yet to post pictures from the big day. The ceremony was held at the Staples Center in LA, and it was PACKED! I wore the dress that I had posted earlier and it was a hit. Everyone looked great, and I got to show off my studded cap and gown (sorry I don't have a better shot of it. If you can tell, the collar of my gown has small silver studs, and the top of my cap had big ones). The picture on the bottom left is me and my dad! I love this picture, and because he is always behind the lens, I never get a photo of him. By the way, he hates this picture because he looks fat... I told him it wasn't the picture lol!

Being that I just graduated, I have a few extra bucks in my pocket from gift money. I thought I would seize the moment, and buy a few things I was eyeing at Anthropologie. The first purchase I made, was this Aim High pullover. It has bat wing sleeves, that I adore. If I thought my boyfriend said I dressed like a ninja before (harem pants & jumpsuits), I was in no way prepared for the jokes that will be soon thrown my way. The next thing I had really wanted was this statement necklace. It is huge, and such a gorgeous color. I am thinking of pairing it with a black maxi dress for the wedding in a few weeks. Lastly, I bought this plaid tunic. I will admit that this was an impulse buy. The moment I tried it on, I felt like I was channeling MK a bit, which made me instantly want to buy it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some ninja moves to practice.

As I said in my last post, my parents are in town. Although they can get on my last nerve, I love them very much, and they love me. Despite the fact that it rained today, I refuse to get out of the summer mindset when it comes to clothing. I only own one of the items in this look (the BDG convertible skirt- which I love) and the rest are items that I wish were in my wardrobe. As soon as I have a job, I think I will be buying the shoes and the necklace. This is essentially, my ideal summer look.

When I was 3 or 4 years old, I was Minnie Mouse for Halloween. Even years after, I would go into my costume box, and pull out that polka dot hair bow, and prance around the house in it- just for fun. I still love many of the things I liked as a child, and often wish that I could incorporate my childish desires into my wardrobe, without looking foolish (I am only 5 feet tall- and could be confused with an actual small child). Who else, but my sartorial soul mate- Diane von Furstenberg, would make giant hair bows, so sophisticated? Every season, I look to DVF's runway and wish I had every piece in my wardrobe. For the past few seasons, DVF has included some amazing hair pieces to go with the outstanding clothing, and her most recent show is no exception. If you are like me, and don't have the most padding in your wallet, a great DVF bow alternative is this 'Jersey Bow Headband' from Urban Outfitters. My boyfriend- embarrassed to be seen there!

Last night me and my boyfriend went to see Dane Cook at the Staples Center. Although I have enjoyed some of this other stuff more, it was a good show. We had amazing seats, thanks to my uncle, and overall, had a really good time. Having said this, the Dane Cook fan is a scary sight. I enjoy his stuff, but the majority of his fans that were there last night were horrific looking. DEAR LORD. Every douchebag in LA came out of the woodwork for this show. We are talking about affliction graphic tees everywhere you looked, with enough Ed Hardy to blanket the greater Los Angeles area. I do believe this is what hell will be like. The girls weren't exactly "natural" beauties, if you catch my drift. The picture here is basically what every girl looked like. Scary, I know. The man in the picture below is a compilation I made, of the Dane Cook fan we saw a lot of last night. Guido hair, sculpted facial hair, graphic tee and embellished jeans. A real class act. Just had to report to you on the scary world of douchebag fashion. It was too good to not tell you about!

Hellooooo all! I have been playing around with the whole DIY jewelry thing, and have come to the conclusion that I can rock when it comes to anything with chains, charms, and jump rings (I put clasps on everything I make)...but I suck with anything string related! I just made these and know I will be wearing them a ton. The first was this GORGEOUS geode thing- I have no clue what type of stone it is, but I am in love with it. It is an amazing periwinkle color, and looks as if it were torn from a huge rock. There is a ton of texture to it. The next necklace I made has a peace sign and an elephant on it...I love elephants! Adventures in Target!

I think the best invention next to toilet paper is target. That place has EVERYTHING! If the world comes to an end...that is where you will find me! I recently went to the magical superstore to pick up a few household items, and ended up making some personal pampering purchases (say that 10 times fast)! The first picture isn't of a purchase...just the view from my corner, on the way to 'tarjey'. Can you spot the hollywood sign? YAY! You Found it! hahah! So down to the good stuff: 2 adorable nail polishes in fun colors- perfect for toes and fingers of the daring! The neon green comes out looking like a highlighter, but I am okay with that. The Mediterranean body scrub was one I had seen in the shower before, but that was because my old roommate owned it. She loved it, so I thought 'why not?'- it's delicious! Exfoliated so well, and preps my skin for going to the Bahamas (not actually going to the Bahamas, but that's what I call it when I use self tanning lotion)!

Now, if you'll excuse me I have a date with some Jergens tanning lotion...
